Direct Support Professional
The position of Direct Support Professional is, in all aspects, an extremely important position within our company when it comes to accomplishing our goal. The Direct Support Professional is the person who has direct contact with, and provides care and programming to the individuals we serve in the areas of feeding, hygiene, bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, behavior management, etc. In addition to rendering personal care and programming, Direct Support Professional are responsible for cooking, housekeeping, laundry, driving and other related duties.
As part of the job description, Direct Support Professional must be able to lift 70 pounds, provide proof of high school graduation or GED, have a current Ohio Driver’s License and reliable transportation. All employees undergo a criminal background investigation.
TLC provides services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In order to accomplish this, the Direct Support Professional are scheduled to work every other weekend. Our normal group home shifts are as follows:
There may be an occasional variation of this in some group homes according to special needs.
Positions are part time and full time, with full time being 40 hours per work week.
TLC requires that all Direct Support Professional complete our in-house training program. This program lasts for a period of nine working days. It is conducted between the hours of 8:30 AM and 3:00 PM with one day of observation at a varied time. TLC considers this training to be most important and essential. Absences during the training period will result in the termination of employment.
Starting wage is $9.87 per hour with raises based on company policy.
